During the first ten months of this year, Origo Shopping Centre has been visited by 17 million shoppers

Currently, in terms of public awareness, Origo ranks first among the shopping centres in Central Riga, according to data from a recent survey conducted by the Kantar research company. Both Origo’s convenient location and targeted and smart tenant policy, catering to the needs of different customer segments, have now resulted in a significant rise in visitors and net turnover compared to the same period last year.

The fact that nearly 17 million shoppers visited the shopping centre during the first ten months of 2023 demonstrates the growing popularity of Origo among the residents of Riga and also visitors to the city. This is almost 9% up on the same period of last year.

According to Evija Majevska, Commercial Director of Linstow Baltic and the Origo Multifunctional Centre, “It is clear that this neighbourhood is developing year by year, and this is naturally attracting an increasing influx of people. Moreover, the implementation of the adjacent development plans – the construction of Rail Baltica and the Satekles Business Centre – will only further increase the strategic importance of the location of Origo Shopping Centre. Developed by Linstow Baltic, Satekles Business Centre is due to open in 2025, and its anchor tenant will be AS SEB banka, but premises with an area of ~2,200 m2, with the highest BREEAM certificate to date in Latvia, are still available for lease by tenants in the nascent business centre. Accordingly, this area will undoubtedly soon become an even more attractive business and tourism hub, connecting various cities and providing easy access for both local residents and visitors to the city.”

In the survey, when asked about the principal advantages of the Origo Shopping Centre, visitors highlighted not just the convenient location of the shopping centre, which is easily accessible by car and has a big underground car park, but also its suitability for various shoppers, offering to meet daily needs, as well as the attractive prices in shops and sales. Origo’s pleasant atmosphere and recent refurbishment were also praised.

Linstow Baltic has intentionally developed the multifunctional Origo Shopping Centre so that it fits into the urban environment and is friendly to each and every visitor. Targeted investments in the introduction of sustainable solutions and attracting a continual influx of new tenants have helped Origo meet the demands of visitors, which is underlined by its popularity, becoming the customers’ preferred choice as the most convenient and favourite shopping place in the heart of Riga.

Refurbished and expanded in 2020, the multifunctional Origo Shopping Centre is one of the most modern shopping centres in Latvia. Thanks to the development strategy for Origo adopted by the shopping centre developer Linstow Baltic, which envisions the implementation of various initiatives with the objective of attaining global sustainability goals, in 2021 Origo received the BREEAM certificate with the highest rating among all shopping centres in the Baltic countries. Furthermore, Origo’s expanded building and Origo One Business Centre were recognized as the most sustainable building in Latvia. Maintaining this strategy, this autumn the biggest solar energy panel park in Riga was also opened on the roof of the shopping centre.

* The Kantar survey was conducted online between 14 June and 26 June 2023 and 865 residents of Riga and Riga’s suburbs aged between 18 and 64 were surveyed.
